Hatice Hanımefendi, whose date of birth could not be determined, was the wife of Kalkandelenli Mehmed Âkif Paşa, a statesman from one of the well-established family circles of Ottoman Rumelia who served as President of the Şûrâ-yı Devlet during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II.
Known for her compassion toward the poor and orphans, Hatice Hanımefendi died on 2 Shawwal 1308 (11 May 1891) and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
Her husband Mehmed Âkif Paşa, who died a few years later on 7 January 1894, is also buried in the same cemetery.

He is the Forgiving and Merciful. This is the eternal resting place of Hatice Hanımefendi, noble and innocent wife of His Excellency Mehmed Akif Paşa, former President of the Council of State, a generous man of dignity, honor and nobility in his age. The deceased was a person of high morals who showed compassion to the poor and orphans. May Allah forgive her sins and have mercy on her, in honor of Hazrat Hatice al-Kubra and Hazrat Fatıma al-Zehra. For the sake of Allah, Fatiha. 11 May 1891.
