Mehmed Kemaleddin Bey

Mehmed Kemaleddin Bey, whose date of birth has not been identified, was the son of Hüsni Bey, deputy director of the Sicill-i Ahvâl Office of the Ministry of Finance.

The Sicill-i Ahvâl record system was developed during the reign of Sultan Abdülhamid II to follow the identity, education, appointment, promotion and service processes of state officials. The Sicill-i Ahvâl Office in the Ministry of Finance was the bureaucratic unit dealing with the service records and personnel procedures of officials within the ministry.

Hüsni Bey’s service as deputy director in this office places the family within the personnel and record-keeping apparatus of the late Ottoman finance bureaucracy. No detailed information has been identified about Mehmed Kemaleddin Bey’s own profession or life.

Mehmed Kemaleddin Bey died on 7 Dhu al-Hijja 1321, corresponding to 24 February 1904, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
