Mehmed Sâlim Efendi served as judge of Medina. The judgeship of Medina was one of the high-ranking judgeships in the Ottoman learned hierarchy connected with the Haremeyn.
His name also appears in the repair inscription of the Hacı Beşir Ağa Fountain in Istanbul as “former judge of Medina, Çırpanlı Mehmed Sâlim.” He undertook the expenses of the fountain and was remembered for his benefaction.
Çırpanlı Mehmed Sâlim Efendi died on 27 Ramadan 1333, corresponding to 9 August 1915, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
