  • Mustafa Abdülmalik Efendi was born in Yenişehir-i Fener in 1832 as the son of Kevâkibîzâde Hacı Mehmed Reşid Efendi. Yenişehir-i Fener, known today as Larissa in Greece, was one of the important Muslim towns of Thessaly in the Ottoman period. It was ceded to Greece in 1881.

  • Mustafa Abdülmalik Efendi served in Istanbul as a member of the Meclis-i Eytam. This council was one of the institutions responsible for protecting the property of orphans, supervising estate procedures and ensuring the proper functioning of the orphan funds.

  • His lineage, the Kevâkibîzâdeler, was an old family of scholars in Ottoman learned history. This family name was especially emphasized on his gravestone together with his father’s name.

  • Known for learning, piety, virtue and noble character, Mustafa Abdülmalik Efendi died on 22 Safar 1328, corresponding to 4 March 1910, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
