Mustafa Abdülmalik Efendi was born in Yenişehir-i Fener in 1832 as the son of Kevâkibîzâde Hacı Mehmed Reşid Efendi. Yenişehir-i Fener, known today as Larissa in Greece, was one of the important Muslim towns of Thessaly in the Ottoman period. It was ceded to Greece in 1881.
Mustafa Abdülmalik Efendi served in Istanbul as a member of the Meclis-i Eytam. This council was one of the institutions responsible for protecting the property of orphans, supervising estate procedures and ensuring the proper functioning of the orphan funds.
His lineage, the Kevâkibîzâdeler, was an old family of scholars in Ottoman learned history. This family name was especially emphasized on his gravestone together with his father’s name.
Known for learning, piety, virtue and noble character, Mustafa Abdülmalik Efendi died on 22 Safar 1328, corresponding to 4 March 1910, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
