Mustafa Efendi
Profile summary

Highlights
Uncuzâde Hâfız Mustafa Efendi, whose date of birth has not been identified, was one of the important nineteenth-century members of the Uncuzâde learned family, which can be traced through several graves in the Fatih Cemetery.
Hâfız Mustafa Efendi served as judge of Galata in the 1830s. The judgeship of Galata was an important mevleviyet office among the judgeships of Üsküdar, Galata and Eyüp, known together as the Bilâd-ı Selâse of Istanbul. In the list of Bursa judges, the name Uncuzâde Hâfız Mustafa Efendi also appears for the year 1839.
The Istanbul pâye held by Mustafa Efendi does not mean that he actually served as judge of Istanbul. Since the judgeship of Istanbul was considered one of the highest mevleviyets in the Ottoman judicial order, this pâye was also a prestigious rank among members of the learned establishment.
There are many graves in the Fatih Cemetery belonging to the famous Uncuzâde learned family. Rukiye Hanım, her father Mustafa Efendi, Abdürrahim Molla, Hüseyin Rıza Efendi, Raşid Muhammed Efendi and Hâfız Mustafa Efendi are among the family members buried in the Fatih Cemetery across three generations.
Uncuzâde Hâfız Mustafa Efendi died on 12 Rajab 1271, corresponding to 31 March 1855, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
