Highlights
Nasır Paşa was born around 1862 as the son of Müşir Nusret Paşa, an Ottoman statesman of Circassian origin. Nusret Paşa served as governor and army commander during the reigns of Sultan Abdülmecid, Sultan Abdülaziz and Sultan Abdülhamid II, and died in Baghdad in 1896 while serving as inspector of the Sixth Army.
Trained at the Military Academy, Nasır Paşa completed his military education in Germany. On his return, he taught drill at the Military Academy. He chaired the commission assigned to pursue armed bands in Rumelia and came to prominence through his service in suppressing the İpek uprising.
Before the Constitutional Period, Nasır Paşa commanded the Second Army in Edirne. Because he knew French, English and German, he was also sent to London and Berlin to present decorations and gifts to rulers. After the Second Constitutional Period, he was appointed governor and commander of Adana, and fought against Bulgarian forces in the Balkan War.
Known for his love of homeland and liberty, Nasır Paşa died on Thursday, 13 April 1922, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.

Epitaph
He is the Living, the Eternal. Nâsır Paşa, son of Marshal Nusret Paşa, is buried here. The deceased was a distinguished soldier. His sixty-year life passed honorably in service to his religion and state. His soul, seeking forgiveness, asks every visitor to gladden it with a Fatiha, provision for the hereafter. Year 1922.
