Nimet Hanım

Nimet Hanım, whose exact date of birth is unknown, belonged to a sayyid family line connected to the Prophet’s lineage through Abdülgani-i Horasânî. The phrase “from the descendants of Abdülgani” in her inscription highlights this genealogical connection.

Nimet Hanım was the wife of Ahmed Neşet Bey, deputy director of the Tax Administration. Her family’s connection with the finance bureaucracy continued in the next generation; her son Mehmet Nurettin Erklen was among the figures who chaired the Board of Finance Inspectors in the early years of the Republic.

Nimet Hanım died on 14 Sha‘ban 1327 (31 August 1909) and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
