This organization is considered one of the historical predecessors of today’s General Directorate of Public Accounts.
Osman İsmet Efendi died on 10 Rajab 1308 (19 February 1891) and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.

He is the Eternal. This is the grave of the late Osman İsmet Efendi, one of the leading Ottoman statesmen and accountant in the General Accounting Department of the Ministry of Finance. A Fatiha for his soul from the tongues of his loyal brethren in faith. 19 February 1891.
