Seyyid Mehmet Efendi

Es-Seyyid Mehmed Efendi, whose date of birth has not been identified, was the son of Şerif Mehmed bin Abdullah Efendi, a member of a Yemeni lineage.

The title “Seyyid” before his name and the term “Şerif” used for his father refer to families descended from the Prophet. In the Ottoman Empire, records and affairs relating to such families were followed by the institution of the Nakîbüleşraf.

Seyyid Mehmed Efendi died on 1 Dhu al-Hijja 1330, corresponding to 1 November 1912, and was buried in the Fatih Mosque Cemetery.
