Changes After Construction

  2. However, changes have been made to the narthex to suit today’s conditions, and it has been covered with plastic joinery.

Featured Highlights

  • It is claimed to have been built during the reign of Mehmed the Conqueror, but according to the information in the Istanbul Encyclopedia, Evliya Çelebi does not mention a mosque from the period of Mehmed the Conqueror. Similarly, it is not mentioned in the book “Fatih Devri Mimarisi” (Mehmedian Era Architecture).

  • It has a plastered minaret made of stone and brick.

  • The minaret has a leaded conical cap.

  • In front of it is the Süleyman Ağa Fountain, dating back to 1856. The mosque is also referred to as “Ebu’l-Feth Mosque” (Father of the Conquest Mosque) in the fountain inscription.
