Changes After Construction
The building was constructed in 1851 as a police station within the Hırka-i Şerif complex.
Built to protect the Hırka-i Şerif Mosque, it was used first as a hospital and then as a courthouse during the Balkan Wars and World War I.
From the early years of the Republic, it served educational purposes under the names 19th Primary School and Hırka-i Şerif Primary School.
Today, it is used as the Fatih Public Education Center, affiliated with the Ministry of National Education.
