Changes after its construction
  • Its construction was completed in 1899.
  • Due to the increase in the congregation, a domed annex was added to the right side in1986.
  • A new ablution fountain and fountain were built in the courtyard of the mosque.
  • A marble fountain was placed at the corner of the courtyard wall on the Bagdat Streetside about 20-25 years ago.
Prominent features
  • It is representative of the eclectic (mixed) style that was influential in Ottomanarchitecture in the late 19th century.
  • The square planned prayer hall is covered by an octagonal dome with a flat drum.
  • The mihrab protrudes outward as a small protrusion.
  • There are triple windows bordered by four pilasters on the side facades.
  • The architectural arrangement of the windows is based on the “Syrian pediment” system,inspired by Roman architecture.
  • The minaret of the mosque, located on the right corner of the narthex, differs fromtraditional Turkish minarets in that it has an octagonal body, and its surfaces areplastered in the form of cassettes.
  • The egg frieze detail of ancient architecture was used at the top of the minaret’sbalcony and at the beginning of the cone.
  • The interior of the mosque is decorated with late Ottoman hand-drawn embroidery.
  • The minbar and the preacher’s pulpit are made of wood.
