The structure was damaged by fire and was repaired in 1968.
The restoration implementation began with the site handover on 24 November 2023.
In the restoration, the weakened load-bearing elements were strengthened; some walls were dismantled and rebuilt.
The upper covering, which had disappeared over time, was rebuilt as a timber sitting roof.
The ground floor was covered with a volta floor system; hexagonal şeşhane bricks were laid over it.
The door, window, and ceiling joinery were newly manufactured in timber in accordance with the approved project.
The restoration works were completed as of March 2025.

The building is also referred to as the “Hacı Ferhat Sıbyan Mektebi.”
It is an example of the 16th-century neighborhood school tradition.
The building has been restored with its original two-story configuration.
Later additions around the building, most of which were largely demolished, preserve traces indicating that the structure was used as a residence for a period.
The patron’s grave is located in front of the mihrab wall.
The building forms part of the same focal area together with the Hacı Ferhat Ağa Mosque and tomb.
