Hasan Üveys Efendi was born in 1645 in the Taşköprü district of Kastamonu. He pursued his madrasa education in İstanbul and became a scholar at a young age.
He established important Islamic study circles at Hagia Sophia Mosque. He entered the Sufi path through the guidance of Karabaş-ı Veli and soon attained profound spiritual ranks.
Karabaş-ı Veli once said of Hasan Üveys Efendi: “There is no other knower of God like him.” Over his 81-year life, he harmonized scholarship and Sufism, serving as a model of asceticism and piety.
He was deeply saddened when his daughter Fatıma left the lodge, and thereafter adopted a sterner demeanor.
