Hatice Sultan was born in 1590 in Manisa. She was the daughter of Ottoman Sultan Mehmed III and a member of the imperial family.

In 1604, she married Mirahur Mustafa Paşa. Detailed information about her life is limited. She had three children who died at a young age.

Although the exact date of her death is uncertain, it is known that a tomb was built for her within the Şehzade Tomb complex.

Featured Highlights

  • The tomb is located in the tomb section of the complex, adjacent to the courtyard wall.

  • It has an irregular hexagonal plan and is covered by a dome.

  • The lower parts of the walls are built from limestone, while the upper parts are made of brick and plastered.

  • The exterior façade is enlivened with angular columns, and two rows of nailed eaves are used above.

  • The interior space is plain, with sarcophagi placed on a raised platform.

  • The tomb contains the graves of Hatice Sultan and her three children who passed away at a young age.
