The exact foundation date of the Sufi Lodge is not known; the building complex was damaged and rebuilt in different periods from the time of its establishment onward.
From 1925 onward, the building was partly used as a dwelling; over time, it remained neglected and fell into ruin.
Archaeological research was carried out on the land where the Sufi Lodge stood in 2022; the Sufi Lodge and tomb were reconstructed in accordance with their original form in 2024.
The Sufi Lodge has been open to visitors since November 2024.
The grave of Sheikh Yakub Efendi was first placed in the tomb in the tawhidkhana section of the Sufi Lodge; because of the heavy number of visitors, it was moved to the graveyard of Şehzade Mosque, and shortly afterwards it was transferred to another place.
