Changes After Construction:
  • It was built in 1891 as the residence of Yeğya Şahbazyan, an Armenian industrialist from the local community.
  • At the very beginning of the 20th century, it passed to the Treasury.
  • The building, transferred to the Treasury, became Hoca İshak Efendi Zükur Numune School in 1912.
  • The building, which suffered severe damage in the fires of 1982 and 1984, was repaired shortly afterward and continued its educational life.
  • The historic building underwent a comprehensive restoration process in 2019.
Prominent Features:
  • Since 2012, the building has been used as an Imam Hatip Secondary School, and it also served under the names Beyoğlu 1st School and Hoca İshak Efendi Primary School.
  • Overlooking the Golden Horn from an elevated point, the building has a masonry structure. On its upper floor, there are two balconies, and at its entrance, there is a double-flight staircase and a columned support arrangement.
  • In front of the historic building, there is a cistern one metre wide.
