Changes After Construction

  1. None of the structures of the complex has survived to the present day except for the bath.

  2. The hot section (harare) of the bath was completely destroyed; the marble-paved floor remained in a very ruined condition, and the section turned into a courtyard.

  3. The lantern opening at the top of the dome was covered with wood.

  4. The bath was converted into a business inn in 1986; only the large domed changing hall section was preserved within the new building.

Featured Highlights

  • The school complex contains the only surviving bath remnant from the Ottoman period.

  • The structure is part of the endowed complex of Nevşehirli Damat İbrahim Pasha from the reign of Sultan Ahmed III.

  • In the plan arrangement of the bath, there is a large domed changing hall, followed by a warm section and a hot section with four iwans and four private cells.

  • It is stated that the water of the bath in question was brought from Topkapı Palace.
