With the school moving to its new campus in 1993, the structure remained out of use; in the following period, the building was allocated to the Ministry of National Education.
The structure was taken into renovation in 2008 as part of the preparations for reuse for school purposes; the restoration process began in 2010 and, according to institutional records, was completed in 2018.
Prominent Features:
The structure is also known as the Old Darüşşafaka High School building.
The building was constructed in two sections with a layout where both female and male students could study and was completed in 1873.
The building, whose architectural plan was drawn in 1868, is among the early examples of 19th-century Ottoman educational structures.
