Changes After Construction
The structure was built as a masjid; over time, it acquired the function of a lodge.
The lodge lost its function in 1925 with the closure of dervish lodges and zawiyas.
Today, the small cemetery section on the plot and the Tomb of İskender Baba continue to survive.
Featured Highlights
It was also known by the name Kaymakçı Lodge.
Its founder, Mehmed Efendi, served as a janissary officer; he died in 1548 (Hijri 955) and was buried in the lodge cemetery.
Within the site, the Tomb of İskender Baba and the cemetery section are read together; wall and jamb traces around the tomb have survived to the present day.
Next to the tomb stood the Damat İbrahim Pasha Fountain dated Hijri 1141 (1728-29); today, only its water reservoir survives.
The lodge surroundings are located at the junction of Gündoğumu Avenue and Dönmedolap Street; nearby are the Malatyalı İsmail Ağa Mosque and the Ağa Hammam.
