Changes After Construction

  1. Kasapbaşı Halil had the mosque built in 1547.

  2. The 1915 fire completely destroyed the structure.

  3. In the excavation carried out in 2007, the remains of the structure were uncovered.

  4. The revival work was carried out in 2012, and the mosque was reopened for worship in 2013.

Featured Highlights

  • Its plan shows a composition close to a square; its walls are masonry.

  • There is a wooden ceiling arrangement in the interior; the ceiling is divided into small squares by a lath arrangement.

  • The roof has a wooden construction and is tile-covered.

  • The structure contains a muezzin’s gallery; the mosque represents the small-scale neighborhood mosque type.

  • The present-day structure is a mosque re-established on the site of the historical mosque that disappeared after the fire, through excavation findings and the revival process.
