Changes After Construction:
  • It underwent a major repair in 1968; some additions were made during this repair.
  • It was repaired again in 1994.
Prominent Features:
  • The walls of the mosque are made of cut stone; the roof, ceiling and minbar are wooden, and the mihrab is made of plaster.
  • The additional section is entered from the narthex.
  • The lower windows are rectangular and have marble arches around them.
  • The upper windows have honeycombs and are oval-shaped.
  • The upper gallery is accessed by a wooden staircase.
  • There is a place with two arches in the lower section.
  • The mosque is divided into two sections by a wall, has two mihrabs and is entered from two separate doors.
  • There is a brick minaret with an embossed balcony on the front right side.
  • The mosque remains in a pit today due to the road being raised.
  • Its benefactor, Kepenekçi Hoca Sinan Efendi, died in 1562 and was buried outside Edirnekapı, opposite the Emir Buhari Mosque.
