Changes After Its Construction:
  • It underwent extensive restoration between 1970 and 1975
  • Over time, due to earthquakes, climatic conditions, and wrong interventions, its walls cracked, its minaret was dismantled, and it was closed to worship
  • There used to be a high school at the entrance of the mosque, but this structure was demolished over time
  • And reconstruction work was carried out by the Directorate General of Foundations, and it was reopened for worship.
Prominent Features:
  • Built during the reign of Mehmet IV, Kerime Hatun Mosque was commissioned by Kapıağası Ahmet Agha, one of the notables of the region, in the name of his mother
  • It has the distinction of being the first masjid built in Çengelköy
