Changes After Construction
In 1725, the building was rebuilt and given the name Surp Asdvadzadzin.
In 1726, the opening was carried out by Catholicos Garabed Ulnetzi.
In 1825, a new stone church was built in place of the wooden church.
The construction of the baptismal font was completed in 1824.
The building underwent repairs in 1843, 1881, 1925, 1964, and 1993.
After a long renovation process, it was reopened for worship in 2012.
Featured Highlights
The church belongs to the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
The building is known as the “Surp Asdvadzadzin Armenian Church”; in the earliest records, it appears under the name “Surp Giragos.”
The church is associated with the community that settled in Ortaköy from Eğin and Abuçeh in the 17th century.
At the center of the ceiling, at the point where the chandelier is suspended, there is a rose-motif decoration.
There is a bell tower constructed with iron poles.
To the right of the building is the Surp Istepanos Chapel, and to the left is the Surp Yerrortutyun Chapel.
The inscription above the main entrance bears the dates 1825, 1925, and 1964.
