Changes After Construction
The building was rebuilt on September 6, 1863, and was recognized as a مشترk place of worship for Syriacs and Armenians.
It suffered major damage in the Istanbul fire of 1870 and underwent a comprehensive restoration in 1878.
The existing old building was demolished in 1961; the church was rebuilt and opened for worship in 1964.
The building was reopened in its renewed form on May 28, 2006.
The building was registered as a first-degree urban conservation site on March 19, 2003.
