Muhaşşi Sinan Mosque was built by Sinanuddin Yusuf bin Husameddin Effendi, who was born in Amasya in 1574 and earned the nickname “Muhaşşi” (tr.: note writer) by writing a footnote to Qadi Baydawi's exegesis of the Holy Quran.
Initially built as a masjid, the mosque was elevated to mosque status in 1703 with the addition of a pulpit. This change was made by Sayyid Mahmud Dede Effendi.
One of the unique architectural features of the mosque, which has a single minaret and a single balcony, is the sundial on its minaret. This sundial adds a special historical and aesthetic value to the mosque.
The mosque has a simple and charming architecture and contributes to the historical texture of the Anadoluhisarı district.
