  1. It was repaired in 1896 and 1897.

  2. During the Republican period, the prayer section was expanded.

  3. During this expansion, a second minaret (with two balconies) was built; the original minaret had a single balcony.

  4. Damage caused by natural disasters such as earthquakes was repaired.

  5. The inscriptions on the mosque and the fountain in the courtyard have survived to the present day.

Featured Highlights

  • Stone and mortar were used on the exterior walls and covered with concrete plaster.

  • Its dome is placed on four pillars.

  • The minbar and mihrab are made of marble, and the preacher’s pulpit is made of wood.

  • There is a fountain in the courtyard.

  • It has a square plan and reflects a mixture of classical and modern construction techniques, both in its construction and in its later expansions.

  • It attracts attention with its two different minaret designs: the original minaret has a single balcony; the later minaret has a double balcony and its appearance is quite unusual.
