Changes After Construction

  1. The structure underwent a comprehensive restoration in 1954.

  2. With the "service unit" added to the structure later, the mass arrangement transformed from a rectangular to a "T" plan scheme.

  3. The structure was reopened for use with a school function following restoration in 2015.

Featured Highlights

  • The structure is also known by the names Yeniköy Zografyon Greek Girls' School, Yeniköy Zografyon Greek Girls' Primary School, and Yeniköy Mixed Greek Primary Education School.

  • The structure was built in 1871 on a small hill behind the Ayia Nikolaos Church with a donation.

  • The facade arrangement carries Neo-Byzantine influences; it features walls decorated with red brick and a fortress-like facade composition.

  • On the eastern facade, there is a central projection that rises along the height of the building and terminates with an arch at the roof, along with angular formations at the corners.

  • The use of red brick in floor moldings, window frames, and eave decorations is a characteristic element.
