Changes After Construction
It was renovated by benefactors in 1875-76.
On the outer part of the mihrab wall, there is a repair inscription dated 1875-76.
It was rebuilt with reinforced concrete in the 1950s and lost most of its originalarchitectural structure.
Featured Highlights
When it was first built, its walls were made of masonry and its roof was made of wood.
It has a square-plan harim (prayer hall) section and a closed narthex.
The minbar, mihrab and preacher’s pulpit are covered with tiles.
Its walls and ceiling are adorned with Ottoman hand-drawn decorations.
The foundation of the Yeni (New) Mosque, the other mosque built by Turhan HaticeSultan, covered the construction costs and expenses of this mosque.
