The complex was damaged in the fires of 1613 and 1633; it was repaired by order of Murad IV.
Between 1994 and 1999, the buildings of the complex underwent a comprehensive restoration.
The madrasa was used for a long time as a girls’ dormitory.
After the most recent restoration, it was leased out.
Prominent Features:
It is a madrasa with twenty cells, located on the northeast side of the outer courtyard wall.
According to its construction inscription, it was completed in Hijri 953 (1546).
It consists of twenty cells placed between the open and enclosed classrooms.
Despite its asymmetrical plan layout, it conforms to the classical madrasa typology; a parallelism was established with the mosque in its design and decoration.
