Changes After Construction:
  • The minbar of the mosque was built by Seyyid Mehmed Efendi, the imam of Sultan Ahmed III, known as “İmam-I Sultani Hacı İmam”.
  • The prayer area and fountain were built by Hazerpare Ahmet Pasha.
  • A well was added to the garden in 1648.
  • It was repaired by the Minister of Zahire* Arif Efendi in 1826-1827.
  • It lost much of its originality during the extensive restoration in 1960.
Prominent Features:
  • It has a rectangular plan and bears the typical features of classical Ottoman neighbourhood mosques.
  • It is a building with a single minaret and a single balcony.
  • The mihrab and the minbar were built by important people in the historical context.
  • There is a prayer room, fountain and well in the courtyard.
  • In the interior, the large-sized chandelier (Kandil) draws attention; it gives the mosque an aesthetic appearance with its gold-colored metal parts.
  • The mihrab has an arch structure enriched with tile decorations; dark blue and blue tones dominate.
  • White painted walls and high windows give the interior a spacious and bright atmosphere.
  • The women’s gallery (upper floor) is separated by wooden lattice and railing details.
  • The minbar has simple woodwork, and the Turkish flag detail can be seen on it.
  • The carpets used as floor covering complement the general bright atmosphere of the space with their light blue-green tones.
