Person in the Tomb
Descended from the Prophet Muhammad, Seyyid Ali Efendi served as a religious instructor (müderris) in Istanbul during the Ottoman period.
He was known for his knowledge in religious sciences and his teaching circles.
It is believed that he was originally from Bafra.
As indicated on his gravestone, visitors are encouraged to remember him with prayers and recite al-Fatiha for his soul.

Featured Highlights
The tomb is situated adjacent to the wall of Kepenekçi Sinan Madrasa and is a modest, old structure.
The grave is partially dilapidated, surrounded by green iron railings and trees.
An Ottoman Turkish inscription is found on the gravestone, requesting visitors to recite al-Fatiha.
The tomb quietly persists today, nestled within a narrow street.
The epitaph reads: “Let those who visit my grave, O brethren, bestow a Fatiha upon my soul. For the soul of the late and forgiven Bafra-born religious instructor es-Seyyid Ali Efendi, year 1234 (1818/1819).”
