Changes After Construction
It was repaired in 1892.
In 1914, it was determined that the fountain, the laundry room, the ghusl room, and the ablution areas required repair.
In 1949, it underwent a major restoration by Ekrem Hakki Ayverdi; three windows were opened on the south side of the courtyard.
It was repaired again in 1990.
Today, it is used as the Istanbul University Institute of Eurasian Studies.
Featured Highlights
The madrasa is part of the complex group located behind the Bayezid II Bath in Vezneciler.
According to its inscription, it was completed in 1745 (Hijri 1158).
It was designed as a fevkani structure, on an elevated level; the courtyard is reached by stairs.
The madrasa rooms are arranged around a porticoed courtyard; the classroom/masjid has a square plan and is covered with a dome.
There is a bird pavilion on the south facade of the classroom/masjid.
The fountain once known to have stood in the courtyard has not survived to the present day.
