Changes After Construction

  1. Its founder is Sinan Pasha, who served as Grand Vizier five times and is known as the Conqueror of Yemen.

  2. By 1924, the mosque had fallen into ruin

  3. In 1975, it was rebuilt by philanthropists on its remaining walls, and the fountain was moved back during the repair

  4. The double bathhouse located behind the mosque was demolished long ago and has not survived to the present day.

Featured Highlights

  • The material used was rubble stone, the roof was made of wood, the minbar was also made of wood, and the mihrab was made in the form of a niche embedded in the wall

  • It is a building with a single minaret and a single balcony

  • The graves of the mosque trustees and Raufi Seyyid Ahmed Efendi are located in the graveyard

  • Sinan Pasha had Mimar Davud Agha build not only this mosque but also his other mosques in Kasımpaşa and Kulaksız

  • The inscriptions have not survived to the present day, and attempts are being made to determine its history through foundation records

  • Among the neighborhoods, baths, fountains, and other structures built by Sinan Pasha, only certain parts of the mosque and its fountain have been preserved

  • Sinan Pasha, after whom the mosque was named, died on April 3, 1596 and was buried in his tomb in Divanyolu.
