Changes After Construction
The structure sustained significant damage in the 1894 Istanbul earthquake and was rebuilt in 1915.
It was used with the function of Medresetul Mutehassisin from 1915 until the Republican era.
After the proclamation of the Republic, it was used as the Cumhuriyet Girls’ High School for a period; between 1949 and 1974, it served as the Sultan Selim Girls’ Institute and Evening Girls’ Art School.
From the 1974-1975 academic year onwards, its educational function continued under the name Sultan Selim Girls’ Vocational High School and Practical Girls’ Art School.
Due to building renovations, the school currently provides service at the Ali Nar Imam Hatip High School.

The structure is also known by the names Medresetü’l-Mutehassisin (Madrasa of Masters), Cumhuriyet Girls High School, Sultan Selim Girls Institute and Evening Girls Art School, and Sultan Selim Girls Vocational High School and Practical Girls Art School.
The structure is part of the ensemble of educational buildings designed with mosque, soup kitchen, madrasa, and school components within the Sultan Selim Complex.
In the sources, it is stated that the components of the complex were completed in 1523 and it was opened for education in 1780 under the name First Abdulhamid Han Madrasa.
