Changes After Construction
It was repaired in 1835.
Because of the coastal road built in 1955, the building was cut off from the sea and remained inland.
It was rebuilt in stone in 1962; its architect was Yetvart Şahbaz, and the building was consecrated and opened for worship in 1964.
The most recent restoration was carried out in 2006, and the church was reopened for worship by Patriarch Mesrob II.

The church belongs to the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
It is stated that the Narlıkapı Hospital was located within the same complex.
A sea-facing hall was built above the entrance.
It is stated that before the Surp Pırgiç Hospital, a mental asylum-hospital was located in the basement of the church; this context is said to have laid the groundwork for the idea of establishing a new hospital.
The building has been classified as a church belonging to the Armenian Apostolic tradition.
