Changes After Construction
After the first structure dated 1826, the church was rebuilt in 1843.
The repair was completed in 2000; it was consecrated and opened for worship by Patriarch Mesrob II.
The Patriarch Karekin Kazancıyan Hall was created in the entrance section.
During the construction of this hall, the gravestones in the garden were moved to the church entrance and arranged.

The church belongs to the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
It is also known as Yeşilköy Armenian Surp Stepanos Church.
The church was commissioned in 1826 by Barutçubaşı Simon Amira Dadyan.
The church was consecrated and opened for worship in 1844 by Patriarch Asdvadzadur.
In the courtyard is the grave of Hagop Babigyan (1856–1909).
There is a record of the “Surp Stepanos Armenian Church Fountain” associated with the church complex.
