Surp İstepanos Armenian Church
Changes After Construction:
- After the first structure dated 1826, the church was rebuilt in 1843.
- The repair was completed in 2000; it was consecrated and opened for worship by Patriarch Mesrob II.
- The Patriarch Karekin Kazancıyan Hall was created in the entrance section.
- During the construction of this hall, the gravestones in the garden were moved to the church entrance and arranged.
Prominent Features:
- The church belongs to the Armenian Patriarchate of Turkey.
- It is also known as Yeşilköy Armenian Surp Stepanos Church.
- The church was commissioned in 1826 by Barutçubaşı Simon Amira Dadyan.
- The church was consecrated and opened for worship in 1844 by Patriarch Asdvadzadur.
- In the courtyard is the grave of Hagop Babigyan (1856–1909).
- There is a record of the “Surp Stepanos Armenian Church Fountain” associated with the church complex.
