Changes After Construction:
  • The structure, of which only four walls remained in 1976, was repaired.
  • The wooden porch on the west side was enclosed and converted into a reinforced concrete entrance space.
  • It underwent a comprehensive restoration in the recent period; however, as it was not allocated for use, it deteriorated again and its wooden porch collapsed.
  • It was repaired once more in the following years.
Prominent Features:
  • The building is also known as the “Kalenderhane Sıbyan Mektebi.”
  • It is a primary school made of cut stone with a large burial ground, located at the foot of the Valens Aqueduct.
  • The structure serves as an annex of the Kalenderhane Mosque.
  • It has a square plan and is covered with a dome.
  • Its burial ground is enclosed by a regular wall and contains numerous graves.
