The building was largely obscured over time due to additions, walls, signs, and the shops in front of it; these shops were removed during reorganization works.
It was determined that the ownership of the building belongs to the Istanbul Metropolitan Municipality; survey, restitution, and restoration projects were prepared by the relevant units of the municipality.
The “restoration and landscaping for the purpose of a community center” project was approved by the Istanbul No. 1 Cultural and Natural Heritage Preservation Board on September 5, 2002.
Implementation within the scope of the approved project began on January 11, 2007; after restoration, one part of the building was used as a city museum and another part as a training center.
It is recorded that the building was photographed between 1890 and 1891, and a postcard produced from this photograph exists.
