Changes After Construction:
  • In 1832, by imperial decree, a place of worship known in the neighborhood as the “Priest’s residence” was built together with its baptistery.
  • With the permission obtained by Harutyun Amira Bezciyan, this place of worship was enlarged and converted into a church; the Boğosyan-Varvaryan School was built beside it.
  • In 1855, a construction decree was obtained, the building process was completed, and the church was opened for worship by Hagopos III Seropyan.
  • The Byzantine wall immediately behind the altar has been preserved in its original form.
  • During the period of Madteos İzmirliyan, the building was constructed in masonry by the brothers Hovhannes and Mıgırdiç Esayan.
  • The adjacent Boğosyan-Varvaryan School was closed and is used for different activities of the community.
