The school, commissioned by the Minister of Education Zühtü Pasha, was opened for education in the 1897-1898 academic year under the name “Kuşdili Girls’ Secondary School.”
After the Constitutional Monarchy of 1908, the name of the school was changed to “Kadıköy Model Secondary School.”
In 1920, the school was renamed “Kadıköy High School.”
In 1983, the building was given the name of former Ministers of National Education Dr. İbrahim Öktem.
It is stated that the institution began to serve as a kindergarten in the 2022-2023 academic period.
