Changes After Construction:
  • It has been stated that some of the madrasas in the complex were extensively renewed; within this scope, the Dar al-Hadith and the Medical Madrasa were also among the renewed structures.
  • From the 2018–2019 academic year onward, the building group began to be used for educational purposes within a university campus.
  • It has been stated that the classroom unit is identified or confused in some studies as the Dar al-Qurra or the “Tomb Keeper’s Room.”
Prominent Features:
  • It is also known as the Süleymaniye Dar al-Hadith; it is counted among the examples mentioned with the highest rank within the Ottoman dar al-hadith institutions.
  • The unit consists of two main parts: the classroom in front of the tombs and the student cells to the southeast of the mosque.
  • The classroom is located on the qibla side of the mosque, in front of the tombs of Suleiman the Magnificent and Hurrem Sultan; the cells are arranged as a mass extending to the southeast of the mosque.
  • The complex was established in a multifunctional arrangement on terraced topography; the Dar al-Hadith Madrasa is counted among the educational structures of this whole.
  • It is stated that beneath the mosque courtyard wall and the Dar al-Hadith Madrasa there is a row of vaulted shops known as the “Dökmeciler Bazaar.”
